Since the end of 2008, intensive planning has been done at HILTI for the expansion of production at the Kaufering plant near Landsberg. A state-of-the-art production facility was to be built on a floor area of over 10000 m². It was and is important to produce quality "Made in Germany" under optimal conditions for the global market.

Various coating systems were installed in different production areas between spring and summer 2010. All coating materials were confirmed and specified in advance with the HILTI project management according to the respective requirements and loads. The standard AB-POX^® 463 coating, the electrostatically dissipative AB-POX^® 460 AS system (in storage areas) and AB-POX^® 460 ESD in the technical areas (control) were used. In order to exclude any risk with regard to a failure of the conductivity properties, the AB-POX^® 460 ESD system was specified as benchmark by the client.

For many years, AB-POX^® 460 ESD has been an undisputed synonym for ESD safety in the field of floor coatings and is regarded as a quality benchmark in the market.

The substructure of the hall floor consists of a high-quality steel-fibre concrete sole with a light hard-grain interspersion on a double-layer, stable PP foil. The surfaces were professionally shot-blasted, primed and levelled with AB-POX^® 010 (4 - 6 wt.% residual moisture CM) or AB-POX^® 002 (< 4 wt.% residual moisture CM) - depending on the residual moisture content. The high-quality application was complemented by intermediate sanding and thorough cleaning after the individual work steps. Production areas and driveways were finished in light grey (approx. RAL 7035) or window grey (approx. RAL 7040). High-quality coating systems (without plasticisers or nonylphenol) were explicitly requested by HILTI.
